Intergenerational kNeeds

Our Story

Founded in 2008 by Andrea Murray, a former Charleston County School Board Member with over 25 years of community service on John’s Island, Intergenerational Kneeds began as Child Care By Faith. What started as a small act of service has grown into a mission-driven organization dedicated to connecting generations through compassion, care, and community.

Our Mission

To bridge the gap between generations by providing food, resources, and compassionate outreach that connects and uplifts seniors, youth, and families.

Our Approach

We believe lasting change happens when generations learn from one another. Our programs bring seniors and young people together to share skills, support one another, and build meaningful relationships that strengthen families and communities.

Our Programs

  • Food Distribution: Nutritious groceries and essential items for families and seniors in need.

  • Meals on Wheels Support: Volunteers extend care and companionship to homebound seniors.

  • Intergenerational Learning & Mentorship: Youth and elders exchange life lessons and build mutual respect.

  • Senior Companionship & Engagement: Reducing isolation and promoting mental and emotional well-being.

  • Technology Tutoring for Seniors: Helping older adults stay connected with family and the world around them.

  • School & Community Partnerships: Engaging students and volunteers to serve local seniors.

  • Senior Outings & Wellness Activities: Encouraging health, joy, and community connection.

Our Impact

  • Seniors experience greater social connection and purpose.

  • Youth gain empathy, leadership, and real-world skills.

  • Families receive consistent food and resource support.

  • Communities grow stronger through unity and service.
